Apart from doing 5 dives that you probably don’t regularly do ( like night dives) learning how to navigate, or how to use a lift bag for salvage; the main reason for doing an advanced course is it allows resorts and charter boats to take you on dives to 30m while Open Water rated divers are limited to dives to 18m.

The deposit for the course is $100. Academic sessions are Instructor based.
