IBD Dive 'Club' - Bubbleheads
What and who are bubbleheads?
Every Saturday morning at 9am divers meet at Island Bay Divers (corner Reef St & the Parade) to go for a group dive. This group is called ‘bubbleheads’.
‘Club’ members dont have to pay an annual ‘club’ subscription (so the term ‘club’ is just a convenient title for want of a better term for this group dive). There are no other membership fees or extra charges. Hire gear is at normal rates; see hire conditions at the bottom of the form.
At 9:30 am, (after you have assembled & checked your gear and completed your hire form) we will give a dive brief. This will also cover where we think will be the best site of the day.
When you return do not forget to pick up your gear hire deposit. This should be done after we have physically checked in your gear. Any gear damage will be charged as per the hire form.
The ‘club’ is a good way to find a suitable buddy and to find some of the best sites in your area. For every month, we aim to dive a different site each week. They are all shore dives.
These dives are not designed to be a refresher. You don’t want to have to spend your dive fixing your buddy’s problems.
If it’s a refresher they are after, they should check out the relevant section in our training pages https://ibdivers.co.nz/dive-training-courses/ . Once they have done the refresh (or ‘reactivate’) they should join bubbleheads on the weekly dive.

All dives have a brief which will be given by an Instructor before you leave. A complete range of hire gear is available from the shop, you just need to carry your dive card to show you are qualified to dive.
Some of these dives will be by 4WD. So if you have a 4WD bring it along & we’ll show you some good places off road & some amazing scenery only 30 minutes from the CBD.

These are weather dependent (if conditions are suitable ) and are run through Winter.
The night of the dive will be advised to club members .
