Here at IBD we make sure to
Train in small groups | Train beyond the minimum standard | Provide this training at a reasonable cost
Email us (tim@ibdivers.co.nz) and we will send you four documents including a medical, course dates and a program. On return of these plus a successful medical (self completed) we ask for a $200 deposit. You then enroll on the eLearning program for the course academics. This must be completed before course start date. Courses run at least once a month right through the year.
We provide all the equipment you need as part of the course cost. If you want to buy during or after the course, we will give you a special student rate off recommended retail price.
We use the Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre’s 5 m diving pool – the largest & deepest diving pool in Wellington. The pool measures 25m x 16m x 5m and is heated to 26 degrees Celsius. The pool training is run over a week for four evenings of a couple of hours each.
All the skills you need for Open Water level qualification are taught in the pool. Please note, you need to be able to swim 200m as a prerequisite for our course, any swim style, non stop, no time limit..
For your international ticket you are required to complete four sea dives under Instructor supervision. Dives normally take one hour and we do two dives a day. The required sea dives are completed on two consecutive Sundays (9am to around 3:30pm).
This means the whole course takes a week plus another Sunday. At this point you are an internationally certified scuba diver with a lifetime qualification recognized world wide..
This step is free & it’s optional – we will provide all the equipment for you to do an extra eight dives on Saturday mornings at 9am. You have eight weeks from your certification date to complete this using $1,000 worth of free hire.
Instructors or Divemasters choose the best site for the day and give a full dive briefing before you begin your dive. This option will give you the knowledge of extra dive sites plus you will meet more divers.
Your total Open Water training is 60 hours with 12 sea dives. This is a unique dive course ( no one does more dives & more Open Water level training than IB Divers) – why not enroll for your OW now?
